Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Kinect labs hands on.

Am I wrong I was sure it was soft developed by peeps like the one doing the indie games.... not something worked out innitialy by MS????

anyway I think it's pretty good for tech demos.... actually it's the best and most entertaining tech demos I have seen in a while.... usually u are just allowed to see a trailer of something... not to try it and play with it like here in a nice looking visual display....

I don't know what you expected.... but it was exactly as I thought... and for the scan if it doesn't work because of the light it's your fault.... it's like taking a picture if the lightning is bad don't expect your picture to be good.... natural light is a no go for kinect.... remember kinect traking can work in total darkness.... the visual aspect of the image is up to your light settings and calibration...

all my scan worked well once I figured out how it worked and what was wrong... it actually helped my adjusting my living room set up.... so yeah those are not great games to have fun for hours with.... those are tech demo and they do what they are suppose to do in the right fashion IMO

Around the Network

Sounds like it's good for kids, but not much anybody else.  Disappointing.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

I can't argue with the OP but I'll try.

I tried Kinect Fun Labs the day after they came out. I gave Googly Eyes a shot, first. I made a perfect copy of my daughter's stuffed animal with it. I took the Googly eyes off, though. I thought it was kinda cool but you couldn't really do anything with it except record a little video and share it. But, it was free and I got a few achievement points for it.

I then tried to create myself as an avatar. Can't really remember what it was called. Well, I can't deny that it wasn't my face. Every detail was there. Problem was, the shape of the face, the hair, and everything was all wrong. It took a generic Avatar and superimposed my face onto it. At least the clothes were authentic.

Last one I tried was "Build a Buddy" which was actually "Googly Eyes" without the googly eyes. Still, more easy achievement points.

--Thing is, these weren't games or anything. They were never reported to be. According to the E3 presentation, this was just a way for 360 users to experience tools that people were able to come up with when they played around with Kinect. I'm sure that if they were integrated into a game (and with a florescent light bulb, all of my creations came out perfectly--and it was night time!), I'm sure something awesome can come of it. I look forward to putting action figures into WWE Smackdown or even a perfect 3D model of myself. It was just a taste of the possibilities of Kinect. That's all.

Reading the other posts in this thread, it seems that Kinect made everybody black or Hispanic. I guess that's why I looked like me--I'm already black!

Also, my kid loved it. She spent so much time talking to herself and making the character onscreen dance around that I think she may be retarded. She did the same thing with the live puppet thingies on Kinect Adventures, too, though.
