Forums - Gaming Discussion - Just had surgery... recommend me some games!

If you like Rpgs, You could try doing the numbered Final Fantasies in order (Excluding the MMO's obviously, I just did the numbered ones and X-2, not any spin offs), I used to not work and have done it a few times (and will likely do it many more times in future when I am taking holiday years (or I should say holiday periods as sometimes they extend more than a year)),

just play the story modes (main quests, not side quests or extras), Its unlikely you would finish in 6 weeks (it would take me 6 to 8 months but I'm sure you will be playing a lot higher concentration of hours in a day than I ever did) but it will give you more games to play when you finish too. Plus its an amazing storytelling experience and will probably give you a whole new perspective on what you think "the best" FF is in your personal opinion.

So i just had surgery... nothing too serious, but i cant work anymore for like 6 weeks and i cant lift anything or drive. I am already getting cabin fever. But i want to play more games.

Give me some good games, that are heavy in single player because PSN is still broken...

It would be helpful if you give some info on what games you play and which platforms you have.

updated: 14.01.2012

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

As you haven't mentioned what platforms you have I'll just assume you have all 7th gen platforms.  Just to name a few:

Rune Factory Frontier: I'm playing this and am at just over 80 hours according to the Nintendo channel with I'm guessing a fair amount left.  One can easily spent 120 hours on this game

Monster Hunter 3: The single player alone will take you 60 plus hours to complete and you can adds hundreds more on if you take this online.  If you take to this, this is the only game you need until you recover.  I'm sure the regular online players on this forum will take you under their wing

Pokemon Black/White:  The main quest will take you about 40 hours and if you want to 'catch 'em all' as the tagline suggests add much much more on.  The most deep RPG I've ever played if you get into EVs, IVs, etc

Advance Wars Dark Conflict (DoR in US): I've put 85 hours in since I bought it about 18 months ago.  This game took over my life in late 2009.

SFIV/Blazblue/TvC/MvC3/SSBBrawl: Each of these fighters I've put at least 70 hours into (with Brawl crossing the 200 hour mark).  Obviously the if you play the available ones on PS3, online is unable atm, but just play the ones not on PS3 instead in the short term.

Mario Kart Wii:  With the help of the bi-monthly competitions and online races, this is just below 200 hours for me.  With this your recovery period will go very very quickly.

Ogre Battle 64: This isn't a current gen game, it's a 5th gen one.  For 1200 points (1000 in Japan and US) it's a bargain.  I finished the game on 62 hours, but the addition of several endings adds an incentive to play though it again.  There are quite a few sidequests I didn't do as well.

the lack of Endless Ocean 2 in this thread is quite disturbing...

I still consider it the best game available on Wii

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Dragon Quest IX! When I had surgery last year on my foot and couldn't work for a couple weeks, I just laid in bed and played the CRAP out of it. Rocked about 80 hours in those couple weeks alone, and loved every minute of it.

Not a PS3 owner myself, but If I had that kinda time, I would probably sink it into Demon's Souls. I've only played it a few hours but it's engaging and hard as hell so it'll probably take up a ton of time.
