Ok so first of all let me state I'm  a huge FPS fan. Actually I'm a fan of almost all genres but FPSs are probably what I play the most. Second of all I've been a FPS gamer since DOOM but my favorite FPS probably has to be Quake III Arena(PC). I like how FPSs have evolved and I'm a fan of perks, attributes, attachments, etc. With that said I think COD has obviously gotten stale but I'm a huge fan of what DICE did with Bad Company 2 and I will definitely be picking up Battlefield 3 for my 360. I actually will play all my multiplat FPSs on the 360 because I do prefer the controller and LIVE party chat.

 I am not a big fan of Killzone and I have owned each once since Killzone 1 on PS2, but it just doesn't hit home with me. Actually I have already sold my copy of Killzone 3 because I couldn't get into the multiplayer. The camping and unbalanced gameplay just irked me too much. I don't want to go into too much detail about what I hated about it but lets just say its not good. Graphics were amazing but Stahl's (aka "Billy Bob Thornton")hair  was some of the worst hair I've seen in a game this gen, and there were some low res textures. (has nothing to do with my view on the game just wanted to mention it) Its not the weighty feel because I actually feel BC2 has more weight than KZ3 and I love BC2.

With that out of the way I am always looking for a good FPS and an exclusive one at that and I have been wondering how the Resistance series is. I just watched the new video of Resistance 3 gameplay on IGN and see that the game has some killstreaks in it which unlock attributes. The gameplay looks crisp and tight more like COD than Killzone. I'm not looking for a COD clone but I just want a solid crisp FPS with good mechanics. Multiplayer is the bread and butter for me so I'd like to know some opinions on the MP compared to killzone's MP and some other popular shooters. Graphics aside because I can judge that myself I'd like to know are there classes, perks, balanced weapons and maps? What game modes are included in the Resistance series?

Also it looks like Resistance 3 will be getting a beta which is good so I can try it out, but I liked the Killzone 3 beta so honestly I don't have much faith in betas determining if a game is good or not. Gears 3 is coming out the same month as Resistance 3 and Gears 3 is a day 1 midnight pickup for me so Resistance needs to be super solid for me to purchase it. I'd appreciate the opinions and advice.

They changed resistance 3 mp compared to its previous entries. Its now 8 vs 8 it won't be like resistance 2's 60 player, which might be a good thing depending on whether or not you like chaotic mps or not.

I think its going to be much better than the previous resistances.

I wasn't a fan of the first Resistance but I loved the second a lot. The franchise is more like Halo than Call of Duty.

The multiplayer mode in Resistance 2 is one of the best I've played this gen. There's a competitve mode and a cooperative mode. The competitive mode is the traditional modes like Deathmatch or Capture the Flag. And then there's the cooperative mode which is the most enjoyable I think. You choose between three classes (medic, soldier and engineer) and you complete missions with other people online. Fun fun fun!

It will be good. Mark my words. I started playing the R2 again today and realized how much better it is than BLOPS

Loved R1 but unfortunately never have played R2. to be honest R3 looks absolutely amazing in most sences graphics, gameplay etc but most of all it just looks really fun!

im a big fan of fps and resistance, i dont know what resistance 3 will be like because there was a big change bettween resistance 1 and 2, and this looks also alot different. There are less players and graphics look alot better. Hopefully a multiplayer demo or beta will give us an idea of what its like. Either way im buying it because im a big fan of the resistance series.

From that gameplay trailer it looks more like Halo than COD to me.

The 8 player co-op mode of Resistence 2 was great. You had about 8 maps each with a number of different objectives and each game would randomly choose 4 objectives out of the available ones. This kept it fresh for a long time with all the possible permutations. The last objective always featured a boosted boss battle in line with the objective you're currently at.

You had 3 classes, soldier, medic and engineer. The soldier had a shield everyone can hide behind, healer obviously heals and could drain the enemies health, the engineer had the sniper rifle, explosives and provided ammo for everyone. Everyone could revive downed team mates, but the medic could do it twice as fast.

You could level each class up to lvl 40 unlocking extra abilities and weapons. You would fill a bar while scoring points for actions specific to your class to unleash your special ability when you want. For example invisibility for the engineer and reflective shield for the soldier.

There were lots of fun weapons in resistence 2. It's the only online multiplayer fps that has held my attention for more then a week. Hopefully resistence 3 will have the same or improved online co-op.
