Forums - Sony Discussion - Demon's Souls VS Heavy Rain

For me, i would say Demon's Souls, it will last you probabily 100hours, and by the time your finished with it, you'll have probabily saved up enough to get Heavy Rain, which dosent have much replay value imo. its a good game, but i havent played it since i got the platinum on it.

I'm almost to the Platinum. On my last playthrough atm and will clock out with about 50-55 hours.

really, cool, well 50-55 hours is actully a lot of replay value then. i suppose it just depends, i enjoyed the game but havent played it in a while.

Thanks for the advice guys, been playing the game for 2 hours this morning and I have to say that it was probably the better decision. Though I will most likely pick up HR eventually.

" Rebellion Against Tyrants Is Obedience To God"

ive only played the demo of heavy rain, but ive beaten demon souls and just one run through was close to 30 hours.  my friend said he beat heavy rain in about 9.  so for the hours of gameplay you made the right choice.  but both games are great. i plan on getting heavy rain fairly soon.

Oh yeah, you could pump in even more time at the end to grab some colorless souls for weapon upgrades if you wanted. That will leech lots of time.

You'd spent more time on Demon's Souls definitely, but that's not the only way you should measure value for a game. Heavy Rain will be much more memorable in the long run. It's genre-defining and much more engaging on a narrative level. Demon's Souls has very little story. And the whole "old-school hardcore style" gaming gets old quick.

In the end it just depends on your taste. Of course getting both games will be the best solution. I've got the platinum trophy for both games and have no regrets playing either of them really. But I just feel that Demon's Souls is a bit overrated, because while it's challenging and provides a solid satisfaction, it's significantly flawed in the story sector, which to me is too important to ignore.

lol, i thought you meant you spent 50-55 hours on heavy rain. yeah i spent almost 100 hours by the time i got the platinum trophy. theres still loads of replay value after that, and i'm not sure how you can max your stats, it was becoming an impossible task just to get 2 or 3 levels at the end of my playthrough. and i kept dying against that boss... maneater, that was by far the hardest thing for me. project dark should hopefully be just as good and more!!

I own and have beaten both games. Demon's Souls all the way especially if price is a factor. Don't get me wrong, Heavy Rain is a fantastic game as well. but you get 8 hours for $60. or with Demon's Souls you get 70 hours for $30. I'm pretty sure that Heavy Rain will become a Greatest Hits, so you should buy it when its $30.

The best about DS is the online multiplayer. I used to get so scarred when a black pahtom invaded my game. OMG what do i do.. i got so many souls on me am going to lose it all....

Once youve beaten the first boss make sure you summon someone to help you.
