Forums - Gaming Discussion - Move games Costs in Australia

I was looking at EB games Australia's website checking dates and costs (they have sweet cheap deals sometimes)

and i noticed something on Move titles costs

They are like $60 AUD which currently is around $61 USD

now that is like half price to other games. I cant believe it???, while the games are smaller and are overall cheaper than normal games. Now they are something like 40-50 USD. So really They should be charging around 70-80 AUD for normal games.

Also i pre ordered BO normal and found out that Hardern is same price. Man i feel ripped off right now

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

I was going to make a thread on Australian game prices the other day.  Our exchange rate passed parity with the US dollar for the first time in history and yet we're paying MORE compared to our US counterparts than ever.

We're a smaller market, bringing into place SOME economies of scale increases in price.  But our relative cost hasn't shifted despite a DOUBLING in our exchange rate purchasing power over the last few years.

It is a disgrace.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

It really is insane I worked it out and I can save about 30 dollars per game if I import. Times that by the 25 games I have thats a lot of money.

i can save 50% off RRP from importing as well. I do that for SP games, since now Online games having all sorts of region locking stuff now

Actually JB Hifi sells Move Games for $49.

And yes it's fuckin bullshit that we're STILL paying double the amount for the same game here in Australia...

That's why I'm gonna buy my games from America.

that must mean Move titles are RRP $60 AUD

If Move titles are 20 dollars less in the US, we should be paying $80 RRP instead of $119 RRP

On PS3? Never heard/experienced a region lock and imported a few games too mainly due to an early release in NA.

I know man and I wouldn't be complaining if we could pay for $80 for new release games and other games such as Super Street Fighter IV would've been $49 instead of $79 RRP or GOW Collection could've been $39 instead of $59 RRP...

It's ridiculous.

there isn't a region lock but since more and more games are going dedicated severs depending on the disk it connects you to that regions sever. Especially EA titles. for example if you import Fifa 11 from hong kong. Expect to be playing online against Asian players.

well, we european countries with € arent doing much better. we pay like 40€ per Move game, which is actually 56$~.

the point is, that they want to squeeze a bit Money out of Australia aswell as Europe. (But for some reason, Game in the UK are cheap if compared to 'us', when i import a  new 70€ Game  from there, i am paying like.. 45€? )

but the thing is, i dont know how much the common american owns per Month, so it could be that they pay the same percentage of Money for a Game of their monthly earnings like we do,  which is kinda a different story again.

But overall, the worth of a currency can change, and re-adjusting prices everytime it happens may upset people even more.

by the way, we here in europe pay MORE € for the Move with Sports champions, as the Americans does in $. (Move Bundle Sports: 99$. Here in europe, you can only buy the Cam and Controller combined for 60-65€, and SC has to be bought seperatly for another 40€. But since the bundle is very rare due to the high demand, the price is growing and growing, the Move COntroller alone is like 60€right now on Amazon.de)
