http://www.buzzle.com/articles/obesity-statistics-in-america.html ---link. I want to have an indepth discussion of the obesity epidemic in America. The link states, that between 1960-1980 the obesity rate was only %15. In 2008 %66 of Americans were considered overweight and %31 were considered obese. This year, the obesity rate has leveled off to %34. Some argue that the obesity rate leveling off is a good sign and some say that it's just because we can't really get anymore obesse. The short article also breaks down the worse obese states in America. The state I currently live in,Oklahoma is at %30.In my opinon, the obesity rate is high for a number of reasons. In America there's a fastfood resturant on everycorner. Most fastfood places are fast, easy and cheap. Quick and cheap food without having to cook. You can go to buffet for around $10(cheaper in some places) and eat food as far as the eye can see. Organic/healthy food tends to be more expensive. If you want to eat healthy it's going to cost you more. Does anyone else, see something wrong with this picture? With the hurry-up world that we live in,nobody want's to exercise. Who has the time with work, kids, school, paying bills, cleaning, etc, etc. So has america sacrificed it's health for convience? Are people just to busy to really watch what they eat? Are people just that lazy? Is the agriculture department at fault, for making low quailty food as cheap as possible? 2000 post. Yea!!!!!!!
