There are games much more focused on the simulation side of things (that unfortunately don't look anywhere near as good).  You wouldn't know it unless you actually drove a race car, but GT and Forza don't model real life vehicle dynamics as well as they model real life cars.  It's nothing gamebraking, and some of it's admitedly done to make the game more accessible, but it just doesn't feel right to anyone familiar with the real thing.

Granted, a good transient and solid state model for vehicle dynamics is pretty tough to get right.  That's why you see companies like Ferrari making their own for millions (the force feedback system doesn't cost THAT much, it's lots of R&D).

I've put in more hours into Gran Turismo 4 than into any other racing game. But it wasn't that fun to drive in it. It's the progression and car porn that caught me. Since then I played Grid and Dirt 2. Now those are FUN to drive, but lack the love for cars and almost perfect progression of Gran Turismo.

Hopefully, GT5 can make good on the driving this time around. That's all it needs to be the best driving game ever. If it doesn't deliver on that, it'll just be a good one. The 5 reasons listed in this article doesn't really sway me at all, especially since this is all based on information from the developers and rumors rather than actual gameplay experience.

The game looks sweet. I've never liked racing sims or GTs in the past but I convinced my brother to get GT5 and the Logitech G27 racing set so I can play. I think playing it how its supposed to be would make me a fan.

No, I don't enjoy gran turismo like games that much. Though, I'd be a fool to say they were not extremely well made, and for the audience they're made for. I'd assume it's amazing.

I stand by the non-popular Idea that wipeout HD fury is and will be the best racer ever after gt5 is released, imo. :D,
