Why did the banhammer get dropped on shio?

If I were to guess, trolling consoles. His signature is in violation of the rules, and I recall he's made a few posts before looking rather downward on consoles and their users.

Is that due to long-term attrition?  shio's m.o as long as I have been on here has been to trash and troll about consoles.  He has repeatedly made comments bashing consoles on here.  I was just suprised now the banhammer got dropped.

I'm back from the dead! I was banned because of the new rule about having offensive/trolling sigs. 3 days ago the mods posted a warning on my wall, but I hardly check wall posts. I was banned the day after. I explained to them that I didn't know about the rule (since I rarely pay attention to wall posts), and Machina (now my favorite mod) gave me the reason of doubt and unbanned me.

“Rather, we believe that the publishers and developers of games have created more robust multiplayer content in recent years that has resulted in core gamers playing the same games for much longer, on average, than they did in the past, leading to lower sales of new games.

This is the reason. The consumer actually gets so much more value out of each game nowadays, while games have remained at the same price, so people simply don't have to buy as much new games anymore to get their gaming needs satisifed.

A typical light-core gamer can buy only Guitar Hero, Madden and Call of Duty and those games in multiplayer will give him hundreds of hours of entertainment and  satisfy his gaming needs for years.

So console gamers are becoming more and more like PC gamers with this games.

Console Gaming and PC Gaming are getting closer and closer in almost every way.

Its possible the industry isn't in decline, just changing. It seems that hardcore or more traditional gaming on the PC as the people here understands it goes through an upswing towards the tail end of the console generations as some of the more hardcore gamers start to play more on their PCs than on their consoles. I wonder if Windows 7 had something to do with it, there were many people who were upset with Vista and refused to use it but now they can use a far better operating system for their gaming. You could argue that Steam is infact a competitor to the consoles given the fact its a distribution medium which wins on price and value compared to the typical $60 U.S.D. console games.
