Whether or not the Wii can outpace the DS in lifetime sales or not remains to be seen, but your logic is, well, nonexistent.

You can't compare the Wii's first year to the DS's 3rd year. The Wii's first year has been far higher than any console in history including the DS and PS2. Console sales rise overtime, not fall. Next year every console should sell more than they sold this year. More again the year after that, and again after that, all the way up to the release of the new console.

First year sales are a lot more important than some people seem to think.

The Wii is kicking everyone's ass. Even past ass. It's trending to do more than 100 million units sold.
