Forums - Sales Discussion - Nintendo raises forecasts, AGAIN

In the short term, when Nintendo announces its results, people will act all surprised and buy. Beyond that, you need to ask what announcements Nintendo is going to make any time soon that would move the stock upward. If we're talking longer term, Nintendo is (in theory) a good stock to hold, but it's definitely a pricey time to buy in. Anyone who wanted in should have gotten in a year ago.

Around the Network

I did get in a year ago. If sales continue as they are I see no reason the trend can't continue. I'm just hoping for a dip to get more.

I made the mistake of not acquiring using your logic with Apple. That was when it was at $35 and people were saying the stock was pricey. People questioned how could Apple continue to sell iPods when there were competitors with cheaper and better products. Well, we all know how that turned out. Mass appeal trumps all that stuff and Nintendo has it right now.

Am I saying that Nintendo is the next Apple? No, but I don't see any bad news coming either. Every indicator I see tells me that Nintendo can make good profits for quite a while.

My concern would be more no news than bad news. They'll have a great holiday, but that's a long ways away. In terms of sales remaining where they are, I don't see it. Wii already peaked with the exception that its holiday numbers in the US will be better going forward. DS already peaked in Japan, though it did setup a particularly nice stage for its software performance.

News is less important to me than numbers. Sure sales will be flat mid year, but that is part of the normal sales cycle. As long as they remain the leader I don't see any reason to discount the stock. Profitability should still remain high.

I disagree. Most of their profits wer based off the DS. Wii profits haven't really even arrived yet. When the double whammy hits, the sky is the limit.

That's right, FishyJoe.  It's called the WiiDS Phenomenon & Nintendo is about to see success the likes of which the game industry has never SEEN before.

And yes I'm including the 12 years of Playstation in that claim.
