heres a few of my predictions for Sony's next console...

1. the PS4 will not be called "Playstation 4" it will have a specific name somthing new and refreshing like "The Playstaion __________" <--(insert somthing creative here)

2. It will still use a cell type processor and all PS4's will have backwards compatability with PS3 games from day one. This means trophies earned on PS3 games will carry over to the new console.

3. Bluray disk games will hold 80-100 GB max

4. PSN will still be free to use but sony will introduce a optional premium account for users willing to pay for exclusive content.

5. Sony will beef up their controller. Its time for a facelift. buttons will remain in the same positions but the controller will fill the users hands more like the xbox controller. They will definately remove the sixaxis.

bluray discs are expected to hold 1tb by 2011 end,Pioneer are developing them

and trophies on PSN has nothing to do with CELL

Soyn has never said any such thing and they haven't said anything about the PS4

abt the sony format 3TB,which one?

Also even if they were working on anything,Blu-ray will be there on PS4 no matter what.PS4 will there gold mine after making Blu-ray win the format war on PS3 and will recoup all loses

I hope they keep the controller the same as it has been. But for PS4 they need to fix the triggers. They were fine as they were.

yeah but theres no way there going utalize 1tb disks in the ps4, so i dont think its probable

and you right trophies have nothing to do with the cell but backwards compatibility on the ps4 will allow trophies to carry over

To carry over ? Why should you loose your trophies if you switch to PS4 ?

I am absolutely sure you will be able to use the same account you used on your PS3.

1) Is a possibility. Sony might want to look into "relaunching" their entire "PlayStation" business under a different banner. At least depending on how this gen finishes for them.

2) I think Sony will also go with this idea of just "evolving" the PS3 into the PS4. Very similar to what they did between PS1 and PS2. Of course PS4 won't need to have extensive R&D either.

3) Blu-Ray has already been updated to hold I think 65 gig. At least for the video game sector. I know there are higher numbers coming. But I think Sony will be looking more into Cloud gaming, Digital Download etc. By the time PS4 is going to be built.

4) Would be a best move to wait to the next gen to launch a paid service. Wouldn't sit well with the existing base.

5) Some minor tweaks, yes. Making it more ergonomic, yes. Resembling the 360 controller. NO.

PS4 end of gen sells prediction

PS4 200m

come on people LoL.

but ye man that would be nice. what would yall like to see for launch titles for PS4?

I like the following ideas from you guys:
1. BIG cpu using core technology
2. BIG gpu
3. Full backwards compatibility with PS3
4. Same online account for current PS3 users (keep all your purchased games, add ons, and trophies)
5. Blu Ray drive (BUT they need to upgrade the current blue ray drive quite a bit to stay ahead of the stand alone models that will be available by then). I agree with Solid Snake 4RD, that this will be Sony's cash cow, as the Blu Ray model takes over in video games, movies, and computing. If Sony is profitable, hopefully it will help out us, the consumers (maybe more Sony exclusives or timed exclusives of multiplatform games, etc).
6. I actually like the current Dual Shock 3 controller. As Wagram said, maybe improve the triggers. But Move will likely be included with PS4, right?
7. Paid PSN service for hard core gamers. They should keep a free service for more casual gamers. I don't think we'll have to wait until PS4 to see this one, though.

Also it will be important not to come out of the gate after Microsoft and Nintendo. It has proved very difficult to come back from a 5 million unit lead, especially when your console is full of high end tech and is very expensive.

Just my 2 cents.

the next playstation:

Playstation 3D
basically twice the current PS3 (two cells, two (slightly upgraded?) graphics cards, at least twice the ram and HDD)

compatibility between the PS3D and the PS3 (bidirectional), but PS3D will be able to run every new game (and patched older ones) in 3d without trade-off in resolution/framerate compared to non-3D mode on the PS3.
Also, in non-3d games run in higher resolution on the PS3D.

release: second half 2011, bundeled with move/eye/DS3/Game 400-450$

the next "real" upgrade (PS4) after at least 3-4 more years.
