Even with Xbox Live and a profitable Xbox I don't see Microsoft making 60% the amount of Nintendo. They just don't sell enough of either subscriptions or consoles.

Don't forget about the software.  Most wii titles are $50 while most 360 titles are $60.  The $10 difference adds up quickly.

I didn't forget about software.  Considering the amount of 1st party software Nintendo moves I still don't see them gaining 60% of that despite the $10 difference in the price of games.

But how much is Microsoft getting. Because Microsoft gets 10 dollars ish right? How much Nintendo get? Because I thought the reason why the wii was cheaper was it was cheaper for the devs to develop for so they didn't need to increase price on software like the PS3 and Xbox360

That excuse was a big pile of junk.  Pc games are in hd just like ps3 and 360 but most of them are still $50.  Microsoft and Sony charge $60 so they can get more in royalty money.  Nintendo decided to keep theirs the same this gen.

@assassin's creed 2 @Warcraft 3 and @Starcraft 2 But yes I know in general it's cheaper.

I'm just saying it's a reasonable excuse to prove, and to some extent might be the case like the devs get a percentage more than they did the previous generation. what is the difference between the royalties nintendo gets and the royalties Microsfoft gets.

It seems fairly true. Who would deny that Sony as a company has taken quite a tumble over the past two decades?

My All time Favorite Tumble, Playstation.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

   If this was only about gaming microsoft wouldn't possible even be inside this list.

Don't forget that windows and office are both sales megatons. Enough to secure a top spot in the list.

Not forgetting that either.  I don't disagree with anybodies placement on the list just the numbers they gave for how much the consoles would generate.

It's true that Nintendo moves a lot of first party software but their third party software sales are weak when compared to the 360.  I wouldn't be surprised if microsoft sells twice as much or triple as much third party software as nintendo.

It's not surprising... Sony has been dropping like a rock in these indicators ever since the PS3 came out. Though I think it has just as much to do with them getting caught up and surpassed in TVs and other electronics

That is a good question and one that I don't know the answer to.  I think I remember reading last gen that microsoft took less royalties last gen with the xbox than the ps2 and nintendo gamecube which wouldn't be surprising since they were new to the console market and wanted developers to support the system.  But I would assume since third party software sells better on the ps3 and 360 that microsoft and sony could demand a higher percentage of royalties than nintendo.
