Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why do people even like RPG?

Well cause my idea of that you should get skilled at something NOT just spend redicilous amount of time on it to get good!

Yes, in a way it is the same thing, to get skill you also need to spend a lot of time, but you ARE actually making proress, while leveling up is making you THINK that you are getting better, when you actually are NOT!

RPG's especially JRPG's are for the chosen ones.. you not liking them means your not a chosen

I hope you meant "Chosen Japanese RPG lovers"  anyway that is your opinion.

Gameplay isn't the only thing that makes a game good. Which is why I find the FPS genre pretty lackluster.

How so?  There's more to the FPS genre than just 'gameplay'.  Just like there's more to the RPG genre than just 'plot'.  That's what the point of this thread was about.

A good example is the Battlefield series.  There's much more to the series than just point and shoot.  As well as just people claiming it takes 'skill' to play.  It actually takes a good team effort, coordination between multiple players and ability to learn how to use multiple weapons/vehicles to play well.  You can't just have one without the other.  It takes both 'good gameplay' and someone who is willing to put out the effort to learn how to play the game.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

why do people like RTS games? that's leading the game not playing it. i hate RTS games.

i think FF10 is the best in the series. FF7 would haft to be tied for me. and as for the story. i forgot FF10 and 7 had stories. i was to busy up grading my characters and making sure they where at there best (just like any other gamer in anyother game) to even think about the story. i wanted to find everything! i spent 180 hours playing FF10! i had alot of fun playing FF10. valkyria chronicles was the only RPG story i got into. when isara died i wanted to stop playing the game. me and my brother always said we would never play RPG's or RTS games. but being re-introduced to RPG's for the first time in more than 10Yr's. i was stuck and couldn't turn away. there is a strategy involved in all games and RPG's are no different. Play through FF10 and you'll see what i mean. i am more on the turned baised side of RPG's then anyother. so you can imagen why i won't be picking up FF13?

the reason i hate RTS games is because everything looks like ant's. my brother dosn't like RPG's because he dosn't like someone taking a free shot at him.
