Forums - Gaming Discussion - An interesting 1989 Total Panic episode about game systems

A friend of mine just pointed me to this, and I find it fascinating.  Maybe you will too.

See if you can spot all of the parallels to more recent times.  I got a particularly hearty chuckle at their use of "next generation".  Just goes to show that the more things change, the more they stay the same...

"The graphics are impeccable" Was I the only one, even back in the day, that thought game graphics sucked? And waited for the day when they'd look ... good?

I remember the original gameboy, and thinking "Who would buy this crap? A green screen with no color?" Damn, was I way wrong about how popular it would turn out to be. I love the Lynx demo too. "It's in color, and you can get 8-16 people to play!" on paper it looked like GB couldn't compete, and look what happened. Kind of like today. Wii doesn't have the graphics, or online component to compete. On paper, it shouldn't be winning.

HOLY SHIT BANANAMAN IS ON!

Also the Lynx was huge! no wonder no one wanted it.

Maybe it's because I grew up with Ginger Lynn, Traci Lords, etc movies, but don't they all look like 80's porn stars?
