5. The battle system is too easy for me. I'll admit that it's intense, but it's just not FF to me.
4. I hate that there are no towns.
3. I really don't like how the story is presented. To be honest, it is MUCH too linear for my tastes. Run towards destination, fight, run towards destination, watch cutscene. And repeat. I'd rather have the cutscenes and gameplay separate. I can't really keep the story in my head if I'm constantly in these battles. That said, the story isn't anything mind-blowing so far.
2. If I wanted realistic characters, I wouldn't be playing JRPGs... nothing against Sazh, but really...?
1. Multiplatform = More money = Best FF in the series? What?

I don't disagree with your statement, but I got to ask, what chapter are you? Because when you get to the final chapters, trust me, it's going to be all but easy, especially if you start doing missions.

Sorry, I guess I worded it wrong.  What I meant is that it's sort of... too simple?  I haven't really reached the point where I feel accomplished from constantly Paradigm Shifting and auto-battling.  I've definitely had my share of hard battles, no doubt there.

Currently playing: Marvel vs. Capcom 3, League of Legends

5) Definitely not, the new battle system either makes battle too easy, too tough or too time consuming
4) No, it just feels weird that there is no town in the game
3) Agreed, I like that pacing of the story compared to other FF games I've played
2) No, I don't like Sazh, point 2 could have been changed to Chocobo instead
1) Being multi-platform doesn't really benefit ff13 in terms of the quality of the game, it might do so to ffv13 and ff15 as SE has become richer though

Not agreed.

Multiplatformness doesn't mean anything to me. The platform a game is on shouldn't affect if a game is good or not.

The battle system is good (not great).

The ability generation system is pretty poor.

The weapon/armor upgrade stuff is good.

The simplification of stats is good.

Lack of random battles (awesome.....love it)

I miss the FF XII battle transition :(

All I really want is for it to be less "tube" like. I don't want towns per se or lots of side questions but seriously THE GAME IS MOSTLY RUNNING DOWN LARGE TUBES. I don't mind linearity but at least give me some things, anything really to explore or go at my own pace.

It's a bit simple for most of the game, especially if you just hang around for the main story. Outside a couple of bosses, the main story doesn't ask much from the battle system.

But outside the story, the battle system starts to shine, especially on Later missions and fights against Adamantoises. You cannot use auto-battle on those fights, mainly because you'll have to follow precise patterns, or otherwise you're good as dead, even with fully developed characters and everything maxed out.

This game, other then Sahz, is pretty bad. At best I would give this a 6 or 7 which is really bad for a FF game. I haven't been this disapointed since FFIX which I also disliked.

The battlesystem is OK, but I preferred the make your own characters what you want approach of FFX, FFVII and others. What's the point of having an XP grid if you're going to make all the choices more or less static? Losing access to all abilities until you switch classes to a limited number of choices also sucked, as did not being able to give directions to your team.

You don't HAVE to make it menu based to have choice over your teammates, just look at Mass Effect, Dragon Age and others. Just let people use a radial menu to occasionally force 2nd and 3rd character actions and leave them on auto pilot the rest of the time, simple.

As a 2nd big thing all the characters either sucked or REALLY sucked, except Sahz. Lightning was like a boring version of Celes, Snow was a REALLY lame caricature of Western tough guys, Fang was OK I guess but I have no idea why we cared about anything she did....and don't even get me started on the lame ass kids. Seriously if you're going to virtually eliminate ALL OTHER CHARACTERS, at least make the main characters not suck.

There was more Charisma and interesting personality in a single bioware character like Alister, Morigan or Wrex then in the entire cast.

I think I might just be jaded by WRPGs though, I've just come to expect more. I've come to expect choice, great voice acting, interesting characters, realistic settings even in fantasy works, freedom....

In current gen at best FFXIII is 7th after Fallout 3, Oblivion, Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 1, Neverwinter Nights 2 and I'm sure I'm forgetting others that were also better.

The series peaked at 6 and 7 which were both good in different ways, had another high point at X and have more or less sucked since. I remember how great FF 1 was when I first played it back in the 80s, it even was better then all the WRPGs of the time, especially among the pathetic console competition. How things have changed over the last 20 years.

Vanille and Fang are lesbians.

Can we all agree on that?

That's my take on it.

I'm only on chapter..8 maybe 9, so I'm not sure if it ever is truly explained yet, but they totally are.

Actually they aren't, but there's a strong connection between both of them. Mostly it's due to how people in their village connected and lived together.

It's the best JRPG this gen. My game of the year, and my third favorite FF after VII and IX

Just wait till the ending. very lesbian.

Chicks making out is definentely hot, but Fang and Vanille seem like they're in love. It's disgusting I think.
