My 60 gig died a couple of weeks ago, I took it to futureshop on friday as I had about 2 weeks left in my 3 year warranty. They told me that they would send it to their service center and fix it , when I asked them what kind of a warranty they would give me on a unit they repaired I was told 30 days.
That pretty much made me sick to my stomach as I had already told them I didnt want a cheap reflow just to get them out of my warranty time and force me to buy a new one. Will update when I hear from them about that.

I also called sony and explained my situation to them and asked about getting a slim for the repair cost($229 +tax) and He said it wasnt available in Canada :( But he assured me that in cases of YLOD for phats they send them back out "factory certified" rebuilt or new motherboards and not reflowed..

Sony does sometimes replace PS3 out of warrenty, they did when my one broke. Worth a shot.
