This will be an interesting thing to fix since the problem technically happens when you turn your PS3 on and not when you connect to the PSN.

That means the bug happens so you can't connect to the PSN but you need to connect to the PSN to download the update that fixes it!

Do you think we're going to have to have a decrease in security so people can download this update?

sure they will...they better

You DO realise that you can download all PS3 updates from the playstation website, put it on a USB stick and update that way right? Because I do that all the time, my internet connection at work is sooo much quicker than waiting for my PS3 to do it at home.

I realize that, but that's because I'm a forum goer new blog readin' gamer, which the vast majority of the gaming population isn't.

You would be surprised how many people don't know simple things like and how many of those people who don't even have a USB stick.

Again, it will be really interesting to see how Sony fixes this.  If they require me to download an update from their website does that mean I can make them pay for my USB stick I'll have to buy?  Because if that's the case I'm going to buy a USB stick and send Sony the receipt.

And then there are the people that don't even know to go to the website!

Why do I get the feeling that we are going to see a "Zune" moment here?
On 2/29/2008 a lot of Zunes suddenly stopped working because they were never programmed to recognize 2/29/08. So how did microsoft fix it? They waited until 3/1/08 and all the Zunes began to work again. They later released a patch that fixed the original problem.
Why do I get the feeling that the 24hr time is just to get PS3 owner to wait until 3/2/10 and the PS3's (Phat) will start woring again on their own. Then later they will release a patch to fix the original problem.

Because they just said the 24 hour thing an hour or two ago. But in reality it would be 24 hours since it started in about 5 hours.

Yes, Sony know the problem will go away by itself, I doubt we will see an update today.

BS. To get updates, patches, etc. your PS3 doesn't have to be loged in, just with internet connection, wich is not the problem right now.

They would rather send you a CD with the FW Update for 1 Dollar including shipping costs.

I'm not paying for Sony's screwup. Not my fault that they can't use a calendar
