Is anyone still mad that Zelda Breath of the Wild released so late?

in Nintendo Discussion on 11 May 2017

I am, but only because if it had released when planned it would have been optimised for the WiiU and I could have accessed my items and map via the GamePad rather than having to constantly pause the game to eat, change clothes etc....

Super Bomberman R reaching 1 million

in Nintendo Discussion on 01 May 2017

I doubt it. I suspect its relatively high sales reflect the lack of games available at the Switch's launch - had it released a year later, I suspect sales would have been quite a bit lower, despite a much higher userbase....

What's your favorite peripheral based game?

in Gaming Discussion on 18 August 2016

RodrigoCard said: DONKEY KONG JUNGLE BEAT and DONKEY KONGA! had so much fun with these games. Oh yes, forgot about Jungle Beat - possibly my favourite 2D platformer ever, despite the slightly repetitive bosses.  Didn't the Mario Galaxy team make that?  Very disappointing that the DK race game which was scheduled for the GameCube and would have utilised the bongos got...

If Eurogamer is right, How many NXs will sell?

in Nintendo Discussion on 28 July 2016

With just one system to focus software on, Nintendo should be able to maintain a steady supply of new first party releases, with AAA ones like Pokemon, Mario and Splatoon appearing at regular intervals. This should generate good and steady hardware sales, which in turn should see improved third party support (relative to the WiiU at least - you could argue that 3DS third party support is OK). ...

In retrospect, would it have been better off if Nintendo continued to support Wii?

in Nintendo Discussion on 29 June 2016

Wii HW sales had dried up by 2012 solely because software had virtually ceased. Wii was the best selling console of 2010, the end of which would see its last major first party title (DKC Returns) until Zelda:SS eleven months later, after which no big first party titles came out at all. Had there been no Wii U and the Wii's schedule throughout 2011-2014 had been peppered with titles like NSMBW2,...

Iwata: We are prioritizing satisfying customers who purchased the Wii U

in Nintendo Discussion on 28 June 2015

Iwata: We are prioritizing satisfying customers who purchased the Wii U

in Nintendo Discussion on 27 June 2015

This doesn't ring true - significant software support for the Wii was all but cut off two years before the WiiU's release (what was shown for the Wii at E3s 2011 and 2012 other than Skyward Sword?), and that had an install-base far more conducive to releasing profitable games. Nintendo's statements often suggest one thing while their actions suggest another....

in Sales Discussion on 22 June 2015

l don't think the initial boost will be especially dramatic, but l expect the game to sell well for a long time with people getting round to buying the console to play it. The game itself could end up being the Wii U's best seller when all's said and done....

Miyamoto Expains Why Wii U has Failed

in Nintendo Discussion on 19 June 2015

l still don't understand why they were in such a rush to launch a new console when they did - in 2010 the Wii was still the best-selling console (or close to - pretty sure it sold more that year than the Wii U has sold LTD anyway), and yet between then and the Wii U launch two years later l only recall one AAA release (Skyward Sword). A budget Wii that continued getting AAA games like Pikmin 3,...
