Well he's not wrong, specifically for November and December. Still, they're 5 million behind, and PS4 has the advantage with Destiny in September. I could definitely see them winning in North America the month the Master Chief collection releases, though. It'll be close globally....
I remember an Iwata quote from around 2011 where he told investors their games generally need to hit a million copies sold to be profitable. If that's true for their handheld games as well (and I don't see why it wouldn't considering that's their main business). then that would make their average 3DS game around $15 - $20 million since they obviously don't pay any 3rd party fees on their own...
This is the year of Mario Kart and Smash, and NSMB and a 3D Mario have already been released, so yeah. The only big one left after this year is Zelda and pricecuts, and Zelda is obviously nowhere near as big as MK and Smash, nor even 3D Mario and NSMB....
