If you could download and rent/buy full version games, would you?

in Microsoft Discussion on 22 December 2008

Also, I don't think it matters that Microsoft used a DVD versus Blu Ray. Their are several games on the Wii Channel and PS Network that don't have to use 25 Gigs of space to look good/play good. A PS3 downloadable game could be very good and only use 1 gig of space....

If you could download and rent/buy full version games, would you?

in Microsoft Discussion on 22 December 2008

Thus the problem with downloading. I'd be willing to download to rent/buy online but it's much cheaper for Developers to sell online so I expect benefits/discounts. A full fledged game such as MGS4 or GTA 4 wouldn't be that bad if it was a new release and sold for $45 online but most games would be better at the $30-$40 price range. And $25 for a rental is rediculous even if it is for a month....

Look how far we've come since the PS2 *teary eyed*

in Sony Discussion on 11 December 2008

I know which way I voted. PS3 was my first Sony system, and I have way more PS2 games than PS3 games. PS2 is just a great system. Not too many PS3 games have made me feel that way. Sure, I like to play the latest and greatest for 10 min to show my friends the power of the cell, but then the game goes back on the shelf. ...

Home - Biggest ever Playstation software cash cow?

in Sony Discussion on 10 December 2008

The question is are second life fans willing to pay the $400 admission price. I'd bet some will IF IT IS SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER THAN Second Life. However, even those fans will be dissapointed because # of people on Second Life will always dwarf that on Home.  Just my opinion.  But I'm anxious to at least give it a chance....

Home - Biggest ever Playstation software cash cow?

in Sony Discussion on 10 December 2008

I think it's interesting but will fall short of peoples expectations. Paying for user content (outfits, furniture, etc.) in essentially a chat room environment otherwise is not my idea of a great time. Maybe I just don't get it. I guess I'll see when it's released. ...

Is the Wii going the Way of the DS

in Sales Discussion on 09 December 2008

Wait, I thought the PS3 was the new DS :). Sorry that was another thread. Yes, I believe it is becoming the DS, but at a much slower rate than I would have thought. The DS gets hardcore and casual games while the PSP gets few exclusives. The Wii gets some hardcore and lots of casaul games but their are many 360/PS3 exclusives to the point I don't know if it will truly become a DS....

GTA IV remake for PS2 would be great!

It was reviewed rediculously high by the press because they wanted to see more hardcore games and were tired of reviewing casual games. Why reports of the decline of the PS3 have been grossly exaggerated.

in Sales Discussion on 30 November 2008

[quote]The only ways the currency variations should effect SCE is for operations inside Japan. Staff, production, profits etc that are all paid in yen which has apreciated. Everything else should be conducted in countries outside of Japan. The only componentry I can think of which will be more expensive would probably be those which are sourced from within Japan as well, obviously as they are a...

So what is a "hardcore" gamer? And why must we really define it?

in Gaming Discussion on 25 November 2008

It can be alot of things. It can be used as a defense mechanism when other gamers (typically casual) are lamblasted for not being hardcore. However, I view Hardcore gaming as a market niche. You'll often see varying attach rates for the same game on the PS3, 360, and Wii. This is because the players like different things. Hardcore gamers typically like RPGs, simulations, FPS, and action...

EA Sportsí Peter Moore On The Struggle Of Selling Sports Games To Wii Owners

in Sales Discussion on 25 November 2008

As a Wii/PS3 owner, I'd buy Madden for the Wii with one easy change. If it had a traditional control option that would allow me to either use the classic controller or the gamecube controller. Madden Wii will never have the attach rate of the 360 or PS3 because multi-console owners will most likely prefer the HD graphics. I could care less. But I tried Madden Wii and the controls are not as tight...

    IGN Reviews Wii Music... Ouch.

in Nintendo Discussion on 18 October 2008

Grampy said:I had always assumed that this game was aimed at children which is fine by me. A lot of children play video games so for a critic to dismiss a game with "there's nothing here for an adult/serious gamer" is a perfectly reasonable and even useful comment for a reviewer to make but I don't see why it should affect the score adversely. There is very little for a (normal) adult in a...

    Why wouldn't you buy a xbox360 at 150 euro?

in Gaming Discussion on 11 October 2008

The 360 at $199 (American) is tempting. However, it's too little too late for me. I bought a PS3 80gig w/Motorstorm & backward compatability for $400 over the xbox pro at $350. My choice at the time was based on three things that may or may not add value to the specific individual. 1. Blu Ray. I was going to get a Blu Ray player anyway, which would have cost $300. So really the PS3 game...
