I remember talking to you about Chronicles a lot. Well, I recently finished the main story of Chronicles X. I'm assuming you've beaten it by now and was curious for your thoughts.

      x
Well it was definitely different! Can't say I really appreciate such obvious "WE'RE DOING A SEQUEL" endings but that's a personal gripe I suppose. What did you think?

      on 31 March 2016

      x
I pretty much flipped out at the ending. I had to pace for a solid 10-15 minutes at how that ending did not just occur. While I enjoyed the story, I definitely agree with most people who prefer the original's story for two reasons, both of which involve the player character. 1) The player character really has absolutely no importance to the story in any way. 2) Because it's a silent protaganist, the player character has pretty much no personality. I honestly think the story would have been more interesting if Elma was the main playable character. It's pretty much her story anyway, and class has no bearing on the story anyway. Your thoughts on the story as a whole?

      on 31 March 2016

      x
Jesus, could I have thrown in anymore "anyway"s into that paragraph...

      on 31 March 2016

      x
Yeah you're pretty much there. Whilst Shulk wasn't the best protagonist ever he still had an engaging role and his relationship with Fiora and in particular Melia made the story that much more interesting. Every character Had a role and even the antagonists played to that too. That's not the case here as the vast majority of characters can be forgotten.

Overall the story is OK but weaker than you'd come to expect. Also because of the requirements to start each mission the pacing is off. For me the highlight is Chapter 5 where you find the Ma-Non and discover you're a robot. The story doesn't get back there IMO.

With who else... Coney has proved us how big fan of the xenoblade is! He runs the official thread about it if I remember right~

What'd you think of the gameplay as compared to Chronicles? A lot of people say it's better, whereas I don't think it's exactly better, just more complicated.

      on 11 April 2016

      x
It would have been nice if, say, you could use any arts when you'd unlocked that class. I do think the combat is better with additions like Skells, but it's missing the charm added by the individuality of each of the characters (no healer really, no Riki, no Melia like class etc) and the loss of Monado arts is no fun.

      on 12 April 2016

      x
Yea, the lack of Monado Arts kinda sucks.

I like the idea of the Skell, and I do have fun with it, but a lot of the game gets kinda broken with the Skells, and there's a lot less variety of what you can do in combat with the Skell.

Finally, I hate what they did with the party system and affinity. It makes trying to do everything you can before you beat the game a goddamn chore. Because you always need to have your avatar in the party, it makes keeping everyone at relatively the same level a pain in the ass. I know you can grind enemies at around your level to level weaker party members, but that;s a pain because of how many damn party members there are. Also annoying is that because of the number of party members, the overwhelming majority of them are completely useless to the plot.

I wholly enjoy the game, but I honestly think the original is just better constructed in a lot of ways

No, but Yang fought Tifa in a Death Battle.

I know, and it was awesome! I knew from early on who was going to win; usually if it looks like they're winning in the beginning, they lose. I like all touches from RWBY, like the hair.

I forgot to mention a while back, I beat Chronicles 3D.

      x
Oh nice! How did you find it?

      on 29 August 2015

      x
I can easily say it would have been my 2nd favorite RPG of the last gen (next to Bowser's Inside Story), and it is my favorite RPG of this gen (not saying much, but still). Probably my favorite Wii game next to Brawl. Finally, I think it's had the most impact on me of any single games story, period. Fiora breaks the game. It's absolutely wonderful.

      on 29 August 2015

      x
It's my favourite game of all time. It is quite the remarkable title, I have to say. Just so many good things (the title, the story, the music etc) that it had to be and I just cannot wait.

      What was your favourite bit?

      on 30 August 2015

      x
If I had to think of my favorite section of the game, I'd say probably Alcamoth (even though getting all the quests there is a pain). The story really picks up steam there imo, and I thoroughly enjoy (and seriously felt terrible for) Melia and her story. Eryth Sea was fun to explore too. I'm not afraid to admit a teared up a few times with her.

      on 30 August 2015

      x
Alcamoth is great and Melia is the best. I see a lot of me in her to be honest. Eryth Sea is beautiful, particularly the first time you go there. That music! And the meteor showers.

I really liked Fallen Arm too. Another great area. Though most of the game was in fairness!

Chronicles X has a lot to live up to.

      on 30 August 2015

      x
It does. I'm not sure either if it will be quite as good... But even so it should be great

      on 30 August 2015

      x
So what have you been up to recently friend?

      on 30 August 2015

      x
Started a new job recently, and went to a gaming convention yesterday! How about you?

      on 31 August 2015

      x
Oh wow, congrats! I wish I've done anything that useful. Me and my friends finally got started recording stuff for our YouTube channel, so thats something. I started something I've had in my backlog for years now, Metroid Prime 3, and killed a boss via him getting stuck in a wall at 3/4 HP.

      on 31 August 2015

      x
Heh, nice. Prime 3 is good but I don't think it's as good as the other two. Enjoying it?

      on 31 August 2015

      x
I've had all three for years, only ever beat the original. I remember getting lost in Prime 2 for a while and stopping to play other things. I am thoroughly enjoying Prime 3, though the bosses require a touch more accuracy than I can easily afford. Hypermode breaks the hell out of the rest the game. Rundas glitched into a wall about 1/4 of the way into a fight and just there the entire time from then, so that was... fun.

      Hello friend, whats up?

      x
RWBY Vol 3. And Halo 5.

      on 29 August 2015

      x
      Halo 5 should be wonderful.

      on 29 August 2015

      x
I'm sad it doesn't have co-op though. One of my first memories is slaughtering the Covenant in Halo 2 with my best friend. Now I can't replicate that.

      on 29 August 2015

      x
Yea, that's ass. I'm pretty sure people would take the option of co-op 30 fps rather than not having the option at all.

      on 29 August 2015

      x
Yep. The original Halo was 30 FPS, and I had no problem with it.

      on 29 August 2015

      x
Same with everyone else. I was planning on going through all the Halo games with a friend in local co-op when I get a Xbone, MCC, and Halo 5, and it's lovely that we won't have that option, considering that he has no intention on getting his own Xbone any time soon. It's ass.

      on 29 August 2015

      x
Co-oo was the only way to experience Halo for me until I got the first two on PC. And I can't get 5, because I don't have a Xbone.

      on 29 August 2015

      x
Couch co-op is a staple of Halo. We'll just have to see if they lose any people as a result of it.

      on 29 August 2015

      x
      It certainly lost me.

Ah, well you have time now, another friend of mine wants to fight, as soon as I sen this message, lol. So, how you been?

      on 05 June 2015

      x
Heh, fair enough. It's probably right at the bottom of all the clothes @_@

Not bad, got a job, finished Uni, got a first and fell in love, now waiting to hear back about the mod application and taking it easy looking for houses pre-E3. Everything's under control!

      on 05 June 2015

      x
Sounds like someone's doing pretty well for themselves over there. Glad to hear it. Looking forward to anyone/thing in particular at E3?

      on 05 June 2015

      x
The surprises, really. Something to really knock my socks off would be greatly appreciated. What about you?

      on 05 June 2015

      x
I'm hoping against hope for some KHIII info, maybe some info on whatever the hell Tantalus has been working on. Other than that, Mass Effect, Gears of War, maybe a new 3D Mario/PROPER Paper Mario, maybe some Smash stage DLC. Loooking forward to hear whatever other unannounced stuff Ninty has up their sleeve. I'm planning on live streaming reactions for the Squeenix and Nintendo stuff, so I'm hoping for some good stuff outta that.

Status update: Somewhere between 85-95 hours in (save file time vs. daily log time) Lv. 66-67. Side questing in Agniratha. Material quests are f***ing tedious... and frame rate drops starting to get irritating around Sword Valley on. Are there any significant differences between Wii version and 3DS besides texture quality and the Collection, like frame rate or draw distance?

      x
Agniratha is a great place. Awesome music. No framerate drops in the Wii version though...you're nearly there now! Enjoying it I take it?

      on 28 May 2015

      x
Enjoying it greatly, though as I said, the material quests in Agniratha can go straight to hell. Alcamoth, Sword Valley, and the Central Factory were all good fun. Some of the plot twists caught me off guard (Gadolt and Mumkhar being Faces), others made me feel extremely dumb (I should been able to guess that the Faced Mechon were piloted by Homs by name alone); others, not terribly surprising (Fiora being alive after all, Zanza being a bad), but it's a fantastic story overall, and the combat doesn't get tiring... just trying trying to get enemy specific materials is. The soundtracks freaking fantastic.

      on 28 May 2015

      x
The soundtrack is the best part, and there's plenty more twists to come! Though I'll say no more.

The collection becomes frustrating when considering Colony 6...which is annoying. Fortunately you can trade most things so it's not all bad. Glad you're enjoying it though!
