Yep I don't think at end of life PS2 would have a chance to stay ahead of Switch in Japan. The portable side of it is much looked after in Japan. But yes their comparison makes much more sense than to PS3 or PS4.

Still as said, this new or thread isn't about bragging that Switch passed both, but just a milestone pointing that at this moment Switch have passed that milestone. We knew PS4 would pass 100M and perhaps even 120M, still we celebrated a lot of 10, 25, etc milestones.

Exactly, milestones are milestones and deserve a little celebration. That you set them in relation to expectations is a different thing. And that can be problematic in itself. I mean we can look at a future console, say PS5, and one expects 10M and another 15M and one maybe even 20M (in Japan). Depending on these expectations the same milestone can be look good or lame.

I can't think of a reason not to celebrate something that makes people happy.

Sure we may put some context, not always needed and sometimes used to downplay, but still 10M is a good number in Japan for Switch and it could double that before the end of its tenure.
