TG16 is great. So is The Turbo Express but SuperGrafx is the lamest attempt as a successor ever. TG16 is technically an 8-bit machine with its CPU. Genesis was a real threat so they rushed a 16-bit machine but it didn't really feel like a huge leap. Think of Gamecube to Wii in tersm of leap. Or maybe PS360 to Wii U. Games cost $100. Only 5 games made. SNES was a year away and Genesis was out. |
It was a fun system. I think Ninja Spirit was the best game I played on it. I really liked the bundled game too, Keith Courage in Alpha Zones. I never owned one, so I relied on a friend who had it, a gaming store where you paid by the minute, as well as a Kiosk at the now defunct Bi-Rite Drugs. Fun fact: The CD add-on for the TG-16 cost $684 with tax in Canada, in 1990. Ha! I did get try out a couple games on it, including Fighting Street, which I thought was tuuurible.
