Steam's Discovery update is making things worse for some indie developers

Valve released a Steam update last week that aimed to show people more relevant games and fewer that were already popular. It claimed the changes would result in a more diverse selection of games appearing in the the Recommendation Feed and elsewhere. The impact of the changes isn't immediately obvious when looking at Steam, and some developers claim that it's having the opposite effect.

Modder ‘hecumarine’ has released an early access version of a cool mod for Black Mesa. In Black Mesa: Military you play as one of Hazardous Environments Combat Unit marines, Steven Mills. This Early Access will let you play the first five chapters of the full version, and we highly recommend downloading it.

Modder ‘Teralitha’ has released a brand new version of the Hardcore Difficulty Mode for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. As its title suggests, this mod adds a new difficulty mode that is suited for more experienced players.
This mod completely disables a lot of exploits from the vanilla version of Morrowind. It’s also worth noting that the mod is compatible with Morrowind Rebirth. However, the modder suggests avoiding any of their addon.esp (except for the mercenaries add-on) as they overlap with some of its changes.

This mod allows you to play as Daymare 1998’s Liev in Resident Evil 2 Remake, game also out on Steam

And we went full circle. Daymare 1998 is a horror game that was heavily inspired by the classic Resident Evil games. This indie title has just come out on Steam, and there is a demo that you can download. Furthermore, there is already a mod that allows gamers to play as its protagonist in Resident Evil 2 Remake.

Ironically, the following mod for Resident Evil 2 Remake is perhaps the best way via which players can experience Daymare 1998. And I’m saying this because Daymare 1998 is an indie game, full of shortcomings. This mod basically replaces Leon (Police) & Hunk with Liev.
