I couldn't care less about achievements. They just get in my way. They take me back to reality when I'm immersed in the game. I always turn em off. Also, I don't need to prove myself in front of other people, specially about something as mundane as a videogame.
Finally... doing something not because the game suggests you or tell you to do it within its world and rules, but because the developers directly tell you seems very dumb to me. But to each their own...
