https://www.pcgamer.com/star-wars-the-old-republics-onslaught-expansion-is-now-due-in-october/
It was a long time ago that a galaxy far, far away last saw a major expansion, but BioWare's Star Wars: The Old Republic is still alive and kicking, and due its next big slab of content soon. Available as part of the free-to-play MMO's optional subscription, Onslaught will add a new story arc centred around two new planets as the war between the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire resumes on October 22nd.

https://www.pcgamer.com/planetside-arena-enters-early-access-in-september-with-300-player-battles/
Planetside Arena, the next class-based multiplayer shooter from Daybreak Games, was originally planned for January of this year. Its first delay pushed it back to March, and then—perhaps blindsided by the surprise announcement and massive success of class-based battle royale Apex Legends in February—the release slipped again to summer.

The Lab gets a handy physics-driven update
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-lab-gets-a-handy-physics-driven-update/
The Lab was one of the first big showcases of modern virtual reality, and one of the first experiences many had after picking up a first-generation Oculus or HTC headset. Today, Valve are keeping up with the times and updating their free VR playground to better reflect modern technology, such as their own Index VR hardware.

https://www.pcgamer.com/blatant-world-of-warcraft-ripoff-goes-offline-after-blizzard-files-a-lawsuit/
World of Warcraft Classic isn't the only blast from the Azeroth path to come out of Blizzard this month—World of Warcraft lawsuits are also back in the news. The operator of a web-based and mobile game that brazenly ripped off World of Warcraft has halted operations two weeks after Blizzard filed a lawsuit against it.

Yakuza 7 is replacing beat 'em up action with turn-based combat
https://www.pcgamer.com/yakuza-7-is-ditching-beat-em-up-action-with-turn-based-combat/
The Yakuza games are ever so slowly making their way to PC, with Sega stating in June that it now considers the series to be a multi-platform one. So it's worth getting a bit excited about Yakuza 7, which was unveiled during a Sega press conference on Thursday. It's exciting for three reasons: 1) it's a new Yakuza game, 2) it'll be the first mainline game without Kazuma Kiryu as protagonist, and 3) it'll have turn-based combat.

Greedfall extended gameplay video shows a promising blend of The Witcher 3 and Dragon Age
https://www.pcgamer.com/greedfall-extended-gameplay-video-shows-a-promising-blend-of-the-witcher-3-and-dragon-age/
Spiders' newest RPG Greedfall releases on September 10, and I for one am pretty exciting about it. Inspired by 17th century colonization, the game is by no means based on true stories (it has monsters and stuff), but its strange amalgam of fantasy and history is fascinating. The video above shows the most substantial chunk of gameplay footage we've seen yet, and I've got my fingers crossed that Spiders nails it with this one. It looks great.

Borderlands 3 writer wants to do more Tales from the Borderlands
https://www.pcgamer.com/borderlands-3-writer-wants-to-do-more-tales-from-the-borderlands/
Telltale Games will be returning under new management, which hopefully means their complete stable of games will be available again. And, fingers crossed, some of them might receive sequels.
The first season of Tales from the Borderlands developed a cult following for its sense of humor and cool credits sequences, even among those who didn't love the Borderlands shooters. Now Sam Winkler, one of the lead writers on Borderlands 3, has said that he'd like to write a second season.

This forthcoming retro FPS is a throwback to the Nintendo 64 era
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-forthcoming-retro-fps-is-a-throwback-to-the-nintendo-64-era/
The retro-styled first-person shooter is hardly a new phenomenon: Ion Fury, Amid Evil and Dusk are only three recent examples. But Dark Data feels especially novel, as its clearly a hat tip to a distinctive, platform-specific style of FPS, namely, Nintendo 64 classics like GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark.

Planet Zoo will have aardvarks
https://www.pcgamer.com/planet-zoo-will-have-aardvarks/
The latest Planet Zoo video discusses the importance of creativity and simulation in Frontier's forthcoming game, and their role in informing features like the ability animals have to climb player-made structures. But fast-forward to 3.16 in that video and you'll see something else pretty neat: Aardvarks.

Destiny 2's new seasonal model will offer free and 'premium' reward paths
https://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2s-new-seasonal-model-will-offer-free-and-premium-reward-paths/
Not content with dropping a trifecta of wordy updates on Destiny 2 players recently, game director Luke Smith is back with another magnum opus. Today he dug into how the game will handle seasons in its third year, and some pretty big changes are on the way. Destiny 2 Year 3 will include four "fully supported" seasons of content, each of them with a 100-rank "Season Pass" featuring free and premium reward tracks.

Destiny 2's most coveted grenade launchers now demand less grind
https://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2s-most-coveted-grenade-launchers-now-demand-less-grind/
Two of Destiny 2's most coveted 'pinnacle' weapons are now easier than ever to earn, although that still doesn't make them accessible for more casual players. The Wendigo GL3 and Mountaintop grenade launchers each required massive PvE and PvP grinds to earn, respectively. The Mountaintop in particular needed players to rack up a phenomenal 200 PvP multi-kills with grenade launchers and 100 Calculated Trajectory medals, each requiring three grenade launcher kills without dying.

Two Point Hospital probes aliens in the Close Encounters DLC
https://www.pcgamer.com/two-point-hospital-probes-aliens-in-the-close-encounters-dlc/
Silly medical management sim Two Point Hospital continues to expand in weird and wonderful ways. Yesterday, its third major chunk of DLC, Close Encounters, landed in stores with an meteoric crash. As the name suggests, it introduces all manner of extraterrestrial weirdness to the already bizarre game, with three high-tech new hospitals to run, new patients to treat from way out of town, and thirty-four new illnesses to cure.
>> And because of that, the game is free to try for the next 3 days and 50% off

Man Of Medan hides a trailer for Little Hope, the next Dark Pictures adventure
https://www.pcgamer.com/man-of-medan-hides-a-trailer-for-little-hope-the-next-dark-pictures-adventure/
It took a while to get here, but thanks to studios like Supermassive Games and their recently-released Man Of Medan, 'interactive movie' is no longer a term synonymous with disdain and grainy clips of C-list actors. They're fully committed to their craft, too, as Man Of Medan ends with a trailer for Little Hope, next in their Dark Pictures horror anthology and due out next year.

Pathologic 2 will get free DLC despite studio struggles (updated)
https://www.pcgamer.com/pathologic-2-to-get-free-dlc-despite-studio-struggles/
Pathologic 2 by Ice-Pick Lodge was never going to set the world on fire. A dark and theatrical plague survival sim, set in a dreamlike, pseudo-Russian industrial town wracked by crises both self-made and supernatural. It's dark, weird and stressful, like living in one of David Lynch's more vivid fever-dreams. It's a hard sell, but it's a game I hold dear to my heart, making it all the more tragic that it hasn't sold as well as it might.
Update: The Marble Nest DLC will be a "polished and optimised version of what was once Pathologic 2's demo," according to Ice-Pick Lodge. The developer has confirmed that they're working on porting the game to consoles at the moment, but they don't have any details to share about their plans for the Bachelor or Changeling's stories.
