Part two of the news:

Prey 2 audio logs reveal more of the cancelled game's story
https://www.pcgamer.com/prey-2-audio-logs-reveal-more-of-the-cancelled-games-story/
Prey 2 is one of the cancelled games I think about the most. That trailer was enough to build up a lot of anticipation and dreams of being a bounty hunter on an alien planet. Instead we got the excellent but dramatically different Prey from Arkane. We'll never be able to play Prey 2, but now we can listen to some audio logs.

DayZ will be changed everywhere because of the Australian ban
https://www.pcgamer.com/dayz-will-be-changed-everywhere-because-of-the-australian-ban/
DayZ has been having a bit of trouble in Australia recently. When the survival game's Australian distributor applied for a rating from the classification board ahead of the physical release, it was rejected. The rejection, effectively a ban, extended to the digital version, which was removed from sale.
Last week, Bohemia Interactive told me that the rejection was down to the depiction of drug use and that it was looking to find a way to keep the game available in Australia. For the time being, it looks like that solution is a global change.

Apex Legends solos mode goes live along with expensive new skins and a new currency
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-solos-event/
Apex Legends' Iron Crown Collection event is now live in a new update, bringing with it a new, temporary solos mode and at least seven stylish character skins that mix medieval armor, post-apocalyptic looks, pirate apparel, and other themes.

Fornite, Apex Legends cheaters have been targeted by 'hit and run' malware
https://www.pcgamer.com/fornite-apex-legends-cheaters-have-been-targeted-by-hit-and-run-malware/
Digital security firm Sophos has issued a warning about a sophisticated piece of malware, dubbed Baldr, that since early this year has been distributed via purported cheats for games including Fortnite, Apex Legends, and CS:GO. The software is "an up-and-coming password stealer" that's progressed through at least four major revisions, that enables users to steal credit card numbers, login credentials for gaming sites and other online platforms, and other personal information—at least some of which is being sold on dark web forums.

Skateboarding sim Session is coming to Steam in September
https://www.pcgamer.com/session-release-date/
If you're pining for the Skate or Tony Hawk series, Session might not be exactly what you're looking for. "Forget about hand holding magnet features or turbo timers here," say its developers. "It's you and the streets."

Overwatch update: Role Queue and new hero Sigma are now live
https://www.pcgamer.com/overwatch-update/
There's a big Overwatch update today: in addition to the Role Queue system and new hero Sigma, Blizzard has a slate of hero balance changes. Most prominently, the hybrid tank/support Brigitte is being adjusted so that she's much more of a healer than a tank going forward.

Destiny 2 director reflects on the state of the game and what's coming next
https://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2-director-reflects-on-the-state-of-the-game-and-whats-coming-next/
Part one of Destiny 2 game director Luke Smith's long-awaited multi-part magnum update spends most of its time looking back at the game's recent history, touching on topics including the impact of the Annual Pass on the development team—it was a grind—and the challenge of maintaining difficulty while keeping things interesting for players who are constantly growing more powerful. But it also offers a few insights into what's coming next, including an update to Pursuits, changes to the storefront, and a culling of Gambit.

Take-Two boss says linking videogames to gun violence is 'disrespectful' to victims
https://www.pcgamer.com/take-two-boss-says-linking-videogames-to-gun-violence-is-disrespectful-to-victims/
Speaking in a recent episode of CNBC's financial talk show Mad Money, Take-Two Interactive chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick said the suggestion that videogames cause real-world violence is "disrespectful" to victims and their families.
"This is a terrible tragedy, a senseless tragedy. It's fun to talk about entertainment, but lives were lost," Zelnick said. "The truth is, it's disrespectful to the victims and the families to point the finger at entertainment. Entertainment is part of people's daily joy, and it's consumed worldwide, and it's the same worldwide. Gun violence is uniquely American. And that has to change, and it will only change if we address the real issues."

No Man's Sky Beyond (probably) won't mess up your bases like Next did
https://www.pcgamer.com/no-mans-sky-beyond-probably-wont-mess-up-your-bases-like-next-did/
On the brink of the release of No Man's Sky Beyond, I got to chat for a few minutes with Sean Murray of Hello Games via Skype, and he answered a question I and a lot of other NMS players have: Will Beyond 'reboot' the universe the way No Man's Sky Next did?

Puzzle with giant jelly cubes in clever, free puzzle game Splitting Headache
https://www.pcgamer.com/puzzle-with-giant-jelly-cubes-in-clever-free-puzzle-game-splitting-headache/
Pity the poor gelatinous cube. Its only crime is being a big gross jelly block that eats people and leaves their bones floating in its translucent stomach. Who among us can claim not to have done likewise? The cube's rehabilitation begins with Splitting Headache, Alan Hazelden, AKA Draknek's latest puzzle game. And, as ever from the Sokoban master, it's an ingenious, elegant puzzle game.

G2A responds to Unknown Worlds' accusations, calling them slander
https://www.pcgamer.com/g2a-responds-to-unknown-worlds-accusations-calling-them-slander/
A statement posted by G2A refutes the Subnautica developer's claims, making a bit of a show out of it in the process. The gist of G2A's post is that Unknown Worlds' losses through chargebacks came from sales of Natural Selection 2 in 2013, a year before G2A existed.

The Falconeer is a dogfighting game with giant birds
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-falconeer-is-a-dogfighting-game-with-giant-birds/
The Falconeer is a dogfighting game set above an ocean world, but instead of jets or spaceships peppering each other with rockets and lasers, it's massive birds. The Gamescom teaser above gives us a brief look at some graceful avian combat, but the developer has also posted some more detailed footage.

Ice-T voices a character in Borderlands 3
https://www.pcgamer.com/ice-t-voices-a-character-in-borderlands-3/
Everyone's favorite Twitter personality—and also musician, rapper, producer, actor, and more—Ice-T voices an AI character named Balex in Borderlands 3. Last week, I had a chance to play through part of the mission he appears in, and I've cut together some of his lines in the video above (spoilers, obviously).
