It could absolutely beat USUM's 1.2 million first week, though I'm guessing at that point the goalpost moves to [some other Pokémon game that sold better].

For this thread? Yes, Japan is all that matters. It's the topic of the discussion at hand. How games will fare in the Japanese game market as measured by this one retail chain's preorders.
