ME was released as 1 game, due to it's success it's spawned 2 sequels. If it sold poorly and was not well received it wouldn't have had those 2 sequels. FF7 is already out, we know the story and we've played the game. This is that story in 3 parts. Sadly, no matter how many people try and spin it, it's episodic.

At least you used a good example mind you, people using FF13 as an example just make me laugh, can you imagine if FF7R part 2 sold 50% of Part 1? It would be considered an utter disaster.

You don't seem to understand the difference between "episodic" and "parts"

Is the matrix trilogy episodic to you as well? How about the Avengers movies?

Episodic/Parts are the same thing here, it's still taking a game that was 1 game and splitting it up. Hobbit was 1 book split into 3 films (parts/episodes) for the cinema. Matrix was 1 film with 2 sequels because of the firsts success. Avengers are stand alone films in an on going 'saga', more series I'd say there, tied in with spinoffs. :P

Do people call Toy Story films one story? It's 4 movies each individual stories with conclusions just with the same characters. Now if they remade the first Toy Story but instead of 1 film it was 3 drawn out ones, then maybe we would be on to something.

Hmm, pie.
