I am aware of the EA Origin thing. EA wanted Origin to be the operating system of Nintendo online. Nintendo said no. That is said to be the basis of issues between Nintendo and E.A, on top of any sales issues. 

Likely a dumb rumor based on some stupid misunderstanding so I'm wondering if this thread started on the right track ...

Yet that was several managers ago. EA has changed top heads at least twice since that point. The guy who bought Star Wars was replaced by a guy who preferred to focus on original content, and he might be gone now too I am honestly not sure. 

That still is at least one top brass guy since then, so why is the mood still there? 

Don't know if you're misunderstanding things as well or not but the flaw in you're premise is that you assume that EA has a political issue with Nintendo ... 

Have you considered that not to be the case at all ?
