I bought a few games from the EGS... there aren't any additional fees on my credit card bill.
Let me correct myself here:
It's for a variety of international payment methods:
Epic adds a payment processing fee to the high-overhead international payment methods marked with asterisks in the hyperlinked chart above because it’s the only practicable way to operate a 12% fee store in those developing countries. Why Valve takes 30% everywhere I do not know.— Tim Sweeney (@TimSweeneyEpic) January 31, 2019
Epic passes these charges onto the customer, whereas Valve eats that cost themselves. In some cases it takes up most of their cut:
It would require some extra configuration on our part, but it should be possible. Not sure why you'd want to sponsor payment methods that can take up to 25% of the transaction, though.— Sergey Galyonkin (@galyonkin) January 11, 2019
