Well of course he doesn't sound "bad". But when I hear him talk, it just sounds off. Barret is a big dude, but he's not a cave troll or anything. Michael J White is about as tall as Barret and his voice isn't anywhere NEAR that deep and raspy.
But you're right, Japan doesn't need to bend over backwards to get Barrets voice to please everyone.
