The Swords of Ditto has a massive free update that removes permadeath
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-swords-of-ditto-has-a-massive-free-update-that-removes-permadeath/
You may remember The Swords of Ditto, the Zelda-like action RPG with the utterly charming art style from a year ago. While we quite liked the game, there were complaints about its punishing permadeath system. Developer onebitbeyond has released a big new update for The Swords of Ditto, and permadeath is now a thing of the past.

NetherRealm is 'actively' investigating workplace complaints
https://www.pcgamer.com/netherrealm-studios-is-actively-investigating-workplace-complaints/
Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios has told Variety that it is investigating a recent spate of complaints by former employees and contractors about working conditions at the studio. The allegations came to attention last month when James Longstreet, a former software engineer at NetherRealm, posted a Twitter thread saying that working on Mortal Kombat 9 at the studio "nearly killed" him.

Riot Games employees stage walkout over forced arbitration
https://www.pcgamer.com/riot-games-employees-are-expected-to-walk-out-today/
Kotaku reports that employees at League of Legends developer Riot Games are preparing for a walkout this afternoon to protest the company's practice of forcing employee lawsuits into private arbitration, as well as what they consider an insufficient response to the problems which led to those lawsuits. The lawsuits came in the wake of last year's in-depth Kotaku report which exposed pervasive sexism at the studio.
Update: Upcomer has posted a trio of photos taken at the walkout on Twitter.

Ferret Scoundrels, the game about adorable little weasel-type creatures who ply the seas in search of plunder, will launch into Steam Early Access on May 9. Developer Cryogenic Entertainment said the demo it released in April "was a great success," and it is now working on fixing bugs and adding new features.

GOG rejected Heaven's Vault, but is now having second thoughts
https://www.pcgamer.com/gog-rejected-heavens-vault-but-is-now-having-second-thoughts/
Heaven's Vault is a really good archaeological adventure game that "does a beautiful job of letting you unlock a language, and thus a dialogue of sorts, with the past, via a wonderfully engaging protagonist," as we said in our recent 88% review. It's available on Steam but not GOG, which in itself is not all that unusual: Lots of games are available on some storefronts and not others. Inkle's previous releases, the outstanding 80 Days, is on GOG, for instance, but the one before that, the also-excellent Sorcery!, is not.

Latest Borderlands 3 controversy involves an alleged physical assault against former Claptrap voice actor (Updated)
https://www.pcgamer.com/latest-borderlands-3-controversy-involves-an-alleged-physical-assault-against-former-claptrap-voice-actor/
Former Claptrap voice actor David Eddings has accused Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford of physical assault, following a week of controversy regarding his absence in the forthcoming Borderlands 3.
Update: Gearbox has responded to our request for comment. It continues to refrain from commenting on the $12 million accusation, a reference to a lawsuit from January, which is an 'ongoing investigation'. It has responded to the physical assault allegation with this statement: "Gearbox takes any and all claims of this nature very seriously and we will abstain from commenting on the allegations Dave is making because it is a personnel matter. We appreciate David’s contributions to the Borderlands franchise and have continued to assert we would welcome him back into the mix as the voice of Claptrap and other future opportunities."
