The crackdown on sexually explicit content comes five years after the Gamergate controversy swept the internet, which saw game developers Brianna Wu and Zoe Quinn (among many more), become the targets of harassment campaigns after they criticized the way women are represented in video games

Because the birthrates aren't declining fast enough dammit! No skin for little Timmy, he's a good Catholic school boy who never has naughty thoughts and waits till marriage (or never) to have sex!

Think of the children who play M rated games! They can't think for themselves! If men see this much skin they may, *GASP* MASTURBATE!

Also, when your policy is based around misunderstanding two different bullshit movements, you know you done fucked up already.

It will be hilarious to see these Japanese games (and presumably Western games once this BS policy spreads in scope) start to prefer Microsoft, Steam, Google and fucking Nintendo as a result. Because if there's a demand, someone will supply it. And a quick glance at modern Japanese culture has taught us that there is a monumental demand for naughty gaming content.

Do you think the Dead or Alive developers are just going to stop making games? Like this policy will make them go "welp, we're closing up shop. It was a good run but time to lay off everyone!"

I eagerly look forward to when capitalism gives Sony a pounding like it did back in 2006.
