The real question should be: Do we really need this remake? FF has been on the slide since Sakaguchi was fired nearly 2 decades ago. The original game had an ATG story as far as JRPGs went. But the FF7 compilation muddied things when Nomura's creativity was unleashed without someone to reign him and keep story point and characters with in believable limits.
Crisis Core while a good game on its own, made up a lot of stuff that diminished the original work. Genesis was one of the worst characters ever created, and Genesis War is never mentioned in the OG work simply because it didn't existed. This is the problem with making prequels years after the Original work has been published.
Zack Fair was also gloried more than he should have been. *spoiler alert* Zack is very well explained in the Original work, he was a Soldier First Class, that Cloud looked up to and was friends with. Zack gets his behind handed to him by Sephiroth at Nibelheim and Cloud is the one to bring Sephiroth down Saving both of their behinds. Zack helps Vegetative Cloud out of the Shinra Mansion. They are pursued and eventually found. Zack gets gun downed by two grunts led by by a commander of sorts and Zack is dead...over finito. He didnt engage an entire army head first after some corny one liners...followed by a J Pop death scene...

Even Zack's and Aeris (Aerith) affair was blown out of proportion in CC. I fear that the remake will be full of these tried and tiresome KH Nomura concepts. I could ramble on about this but it is sort depressing to reflect on what they did to game's original plot. Final Fantasy VII should have stayed as it was, but there was too much money to be made.
