I honestly expect some minor adjustments, I dont see any reason why PS4 & Switch would be so close in North America based on Jan/Feb NPD and insiders saying Mario Day deals caused a notable increase in Switch hardware sales.

PS4 is doing really good but PS4+XBO is on par with PS3+360 in a similar timeframe so it does have business doing so well, it's basically just making up for XBO doing so poor.

PS3+360 week ending March 26, 2011-326k

PS3+360 week ending March 24, 2012-285k

PS3 March 24, 2012+360 March 26, 2011-313k

PS4+XBO week ending March 23, 2019-306k

I gave a few different comparisons and all show that PS4/XBO are doing similar to PS3/360 at this point in their lives.

Great data...... on another note I guess this is all irrevocable evidence that the PS/XB are in direct competition with themselves and not with nintendo. How well or poorly they do seem to have no effect no be affected by how well/poorly the nintendo platform is doing. And with the HD twist it surely seems that one doing well is usually at the expense of the other.

This is also why MS really wants cross platform play to be a thing. Makes a case for the Xbox if you don't have to own a playstation to play against someone that owns a playstation.

Yep it's pretty crazy how directly they affect each other while Nintendo is it's own thing. If we look at lifetime sales, PS+XB sales have remained incredibly stable.

PS2 (157m)+XB (25m)=182 million

PS3 (87m)+360 (86m)=173 million

PS4 (120-130m)+XBO (50-55m)=170-185m

PS4/XBO are obviously just estimates but they should both end up really close to those numbers.

And ya that probably is why they are pushing for it so hard, alot of people simply buy the console their friends/family have which causes a domino effect where the more popular console just continues to become more and more popular. With cross-play this becomes less of an issue and people can buy the console they prefer without worrying so much about having no one to play with.
