I presume that is the one of their major if not the biggest revenue source they have currently to be able to afford paying to keep games off of Steam like this, at least if that drops significantly hopefully they wouldn't be able to do these deals for much longer, or at least not in as much quantity as they are now.

Its not Epic's fault for competing in the market, its Steams fault for not competing. Its because of there lack of effort lately which allows the door to be open for competition. Metro Exodus has outsold the last Metro Last Light game by 2.5x the amount. That's telling you that gamers will flock where the games are. Valve just doesn't seem to care for there own customers and allow these business decisions to take place while racking in 30% profits on garbage green light games. The way its going, Epic Store is going to be a huge store in the next couple of years and that's thanks to the lack of Steam competition for the games we want to play.

I wont be downloading Epic Store, but I am a Steam user, and I am a disappointed customer as of late because of there complacency. 

Sure Epic are competing, but in an anti-consumer way. They're literally just paying to keep games off of Steam, that is their fault, where as they can easily compete in any other way but are choosing to go that route. How about use that Fortnite and Unreal Engine money to actually better the store first and add at least basic features? How about funding their own exclusive store games from the beginning? All they have done so far is pay to take away games that have already had been announced for Steam, had Steam pages, been advertised on Steam, and everything for ages now. 

Also considering that they were just recently caught using Steam user data without even telling anyone that they were using their info, something Valve even commented on and said it wasn't meant to be used for anything like that, i'm not exactly going to immediately believe them on the Metro Exodus sales numbers. There are a lot of variables there when you consider the Steam pre-orders too. 

I agree that Valve could do a lot more with Steam, but focusing on some bad curation is ignoring what they have been doing for the past few years for their customers like Steam Proton just recently for example. And the idea that Valve need to just simply match the 12% cut per sale Epic takes and this would all go away is nonsense since it would change nothing when Epic would still just be trying to pay developers to go timed exclusive with them and away from Steam. 

What do you recommend Valve does to "compete" then since you seem to think they aren't? Should they start buying up timed exclusives as well? Since I already told you how matching the 12% cut won't stop Epic offering developers moneybags.
