The confederate flag is seen with the same digust as a swastika right?I do not really understand why goverments keep openly supporting it when this causes such a huge tension under its own population.

This. You said it better than I. The majority of Mississippians do not fly or even notice the state flag until it pops up as a controversy. What the citizens do and say is a greater indicator of the culture than the government. Especially when its an inanimate object that cannot act on its own.
