Ah, I think you may be in for a shock. Dreams is a development kit to make 'legitimate' games. In 3 weeks some people have already put together 45 minute games that are enjoyable to play. Put LBP out of your mind and think Unity.

I'll check out some videos. I admit I tuned out on this game as before the e3 trailer ended. Maybe it's changed enough over the years to win me over.

Yeah, that's your best bet. I'll just say that in three weeks people have put together some amazing games and as they learn the tools and share logic/assets/music, things just keep getting better. Games take a long time to make and it would be unfair to judge what Dreams can do in such short a time. Having said that, there are already some games that would stand a chance of cropping up on PSN. Blue Marble Adventure is the 45 minute game I was referring to and that's 1 person who made 3 excellent levels. If he goes on to make 3 or 4 more levels, you're looking at a good hour and a half of enjoyable gameply at least. Teams are already forming, one of which is putting together a FPS experience. You can make proper UIs, proper instructions, proper gameplay. It's not a matter of what can Dreams do, it's a matter of what can people make with Dreams.

Everything is down to the creator. The gifs I put in the OP are just a weeks worth of people testing and practising with the tools.
