Still no Blackwater in sight, however I have just entered chapter 4 finally. I got into the story last night, mainly due to cooking up some canabutter and testing the product before cooling it back down into butter. The mission design is definitely made for playing while high, go to the next yellow dot, take out red dots, repeat. Keeps you focused, impossible to get lost, and the story has a lot more impact. The writing is pretty good over all when you look past the silly game play in between.

So back down to earth today, all the annoyances are still there. Why does he always get off at the wrong side of his horse, like every time. The game keeps randomly changing my loadout in missions or I'm dumped in a mission with just a vulcanic pistol and can't access my horse. When to loot is the big question. A lot of the missions have you either run off at the end or simply cut away to another place leaving all those valuables behind. So while my gang is shooting, I'm frantically looting. Got to be quick or restart checkpoint.

I agree with the inventory, can never find what I need so I mostly ignore it. The damn butcher also never seems to be available in camp so I always get "can't harvest all of the animal" warnings. I still donate to camp yet camp funds are nearly $1000 now with nothing left to upgrade. I have over $3000 myself and all the better guns are still locked. I'm mainly working on restoring my honor from my earlier train robberies and witness extinction program. It's slow, the bar is just over halfway, yet I suspect it will determine something banal as the good or bad ending.

I've hunted some more legendary animals as well. Not sure if I'll have the patience to go after the legendary fish but the animals are fun to hunt. If only that cougar (from a mission) had been in VR! The legendaries are glitchy, kill them quick before they drown or get stuck somewhere. I'm using the rolling block rifle with express ammo, most powerful I've got so far. Also you can't take shortcuts, you have to start at the first clue. Reloading to try again, it's the exact same, yet you can't go straight to the last clue.

Is there any point to the challenges? The horseman / gambler / weapons expert etc?

Btw, some of the writing is very mature, never thought R* would be up to that. The overarching theme of change and people not being able or not willing to change with the times is very well executed throughout everything in the game.
