I have no seen no actual developer saying that they have worked a 100 hour week. I might have missed it if that does exist, but I haven't seen it. The 100 hour number came from Dan Houser in an interview, the head of Rockstar, and based on the context it was pretty obvious to me that he was listing it as a positive, not a negative, he was very likely over-exaggerating to show the level of commitment that his team has to making the game perfect. Every response I've seen from actual Rockstar devs suggests that the maximum is about 60 hours, which is par for the course with AAA developers when crunch time hits leading up to release. Now, is it shitty that game developers don't get paid overtime because they are salary workers? Absolutely, I agree that is something that should be changed. But it just seems to me like the internet and the media is singling out Rockstar for something that the entire AAA industry does, and that is what annoys me. Why do you seem to have such a problem with the term SJW? Seems like it sets you off for no reason at all. It's just a blanket label for people on the left who are becoming increasingly belligerent in their quest for what they consider to be social equality. It's no different from when the left labels anyone they disagree with as alt-righters, even when the person who happens to disagree with them happens to fall closer to the center of the political spectrum. The Witcher tv thing was absolutely not an overreaction by fans, they reacted exactly the way any fanbase would when they learned of a potential serious mistake being made by those in charge of the IP. There is no proof as of yet that they weren't actually going to through with BAME Ciri before the backlash from fans, it's possible that they posted that casting call on purpose just to test the fanbase and see what they could get away with. Even still we ended up getting a race change for another character besides Ciri, they changed the race of Fringilla Vigo. |
I think our conversation is done at this point. The only point I wanted to make was that you need to stop labeling people as SJWs for caring about the situation at Rockstar, and it seems like most of the points you are talking about is just disproving the allegations which again, I do not even necessarily believe.
Labeling is bad too when leftists do it, just calling anyone you disagree with as alt-right is terrible.
If you want to take it to PMs we can (although honestly I feel I have made my point, and I'm going to be busy today so ... but feel free if you want to), but I do not see any reason to bother the thread with this.
