This topic is only really relevant to the people who play the graphics game.
I myself am more for performance over pretty. So it doesn't do much for me. Plus if the gameplay is solid, the graphics don't concern me. That is exactly why I can play retro games, even the ones that people consider not aged well from the PS1, N64 era.
