Yes, games were going multiplatform well before the PS3 launched. But very few of those games were PS2 exclusives. They were either PC/GameCube games that found their way onto PS2, or PC games that found their way onto Xbox.  Not PS2 games that found their way onto GameCube/PC.

The GTA games were being released on PS2 first before releasing on PC. Burnout, Guitar Hero, DMC, Tekken and SSX all started as a PS/PS2 exclusive and then went multiplatform. Okami went multiplatform. The list goes on.

The point is that what OP is talking about is a scenario that was never there.

GTA is a given, and obvious. Burnout, was only exclusive to PS2 for five months.  Guitar Hero went multiplat in 2007, not during the PS2's life cycle. SSX Tricky was a multiplat from the start.  DMC didn't go multiplat until 2008, well into gen 7. Okami only saw a Wii release in 2007 during gen 7 era. Tekken 5 was never brought to GC or Xbox. You're thinking of Tekken 6, which was again in gen 7.

So the only example you have that holds water is GTA going onto Xbox.
