The former boss of Sony Online Entertainment before Sony sold the studio off, John Smedley, has talked about this on twitter and confirmed its 100% about money, that Sony doesn’t want people to be able to use paid content bought on other platforms on their own platform. Basically if you’re gonna pay $20 for a Fortnite skin, they want it to be on their platform and they’ll hijack your account without warning in order to keep you in their ecosystem. It’s pretty disgusting, personally I find it worse than anything the other two have ever done in gaming. But “pro business” and “anti consumer” are usually the same thing. What’s good for the bottom line of the business is rarely good for the consumer. I don’t get how people can defend it either, but lol the thread is full of people doing it. So much whataboutism and long winded hypotheticals and skits and other stuff. Its bizarre. |
Oh man never even considered that. Just makes me want to give more props to Nintendo, Microsoft and Epic themselves for allowing this to happen. Epic also loses money with them allowing it on other platforms with one account because of the PC version then. Its just a shitty thing to do from Sony and some people are trying to blame epic for this while they have been allowing this to happen on other platforms. Still can´t understand how anyone can defend this.
