That said, there's nothing more off-putting than a fast action scene with a significant frame rate drop. With today's tech, it should be a thing of the past. A simple way to preclude this happening, reduce the resolution, but if necessary reduce the texture detail. Furthermore, wankathon effects like lighting, shadows, fog should only ever be minimized to reduce both cpu and gpu load.
