I am not sure when you brought your PS2 or what they were sold at where you are from. In Australia the PS2's sold for over $750 brand new at launch, thats $150 more than what the current X is being pre-ordered at and the PS3 being $800+ AUS dollars.

It was $999 or $950. Had a mate that bought one while we were still in high school. He managed to save that much with his part time job. Dedication indeed!
