The game doesn't have a lot of content actually, it will be supported with free DLC for a year however.

Reviews for Splatoon and Arms are irrelevant. The games will get better and better as time passes and they will sell very well. 

I agree, which is why I also didn't expect high reviews for Splatoon 2 because I figured that reviewers would dock it for lack of initial content and for not 'feeling' like a true sequel.  The idea of witholding content and giving it out for free gradually to keep people coming back is something that I think only Nintendo a few other developers can get away with because the foundations for their games are good and unique enough for them to get away with it.  They essentially traded away better initial scores for ARMS and Splatoon 2 to keep the online community for each game active for a longer period of time.
