Minimal as in low resolution unrealistic texturing. Clearly many games even from old XT computers had lots of texturing. Games like Doom had textures everywhere but they were low resolution and often repeated. If the goal of texturing is to create realistic graphics as close as possible to reality you have textures on many surfaces to give objects a real 3D look. Much of that Metroid Prime image doesn't look realistic its like cartoon graphics. It might still be attractive but its not realistic. Does that gun look like it could exist in the real world, or that tree or whatever it is or the leafs. Does the colouring look right or the grain of the tree thing.

Also bear in mind that looks like a Metroid Prime image from an emulator. Normal Gamecube Metroid prime is 640x480 or less.

The issue here is textures though, not resolution, so whether a screen is 480p or 1080p doesn't matter for the purposes of this discussion.

Prime's textures are not low resolution by the standards of its time and hardware.

It certainly is unfair to use images from an emulator and you should always use images from real hardware. Clearly we will have to agree to differ. Others can judge if they believe Metroid Prime offers realistic and detailed texturing for its day I certainly don't believe it did. Still liked it visually though.
