I was sure that someone would come with that. But those numbers are old (2015)..... and questionable, since we all know very well that Brazilian officials have been trying very hard to mask numbers during the period between the World Cup and the Olympics.
Rio´s actual rate is actually 29 per 100k, a 24,7 % increase compared to 2016. And while Chicago counted about 700 deaths that year, Rio counted 5036. Rio is not among the highest rated cities in Brazil regarding deaths, but it is very far of what we could consider to be safe.
