I don't disagree with you. Identity is a big issue with Xbox Right now.
Especially as Sony seems to have taken the dude-bro Call of Duty culture away from Microsoft and Halo, Gears is sadly in decline.

As for Rare. I have actually enjoyed their games, they weren't amazing smash-hit run-aways like what we saw on the Nintendo 64, but they were enjoyable for what they were. Kameo is actually one of my favorite games of last gen.
